One day, I noticed something had changed in my angelic child.
The tears and restless fidgeting after a mistake were gone,
replaced by a defiant glare that seemed to say,
“So what? What did I do wrong?”

When was it, in my own time,
that I too once rebelled with eyes blazing like that?
