I poured my heart into this book, and it has become a major hit in Korea, selling strongly every year. The story shows that the nervousness and anxiety felt by children entering elementary school for the first time are also felt by their teacher — she’s no different from them.
I wanted the main character, the teacher, to feel truly alive, so I paid close attention to her expressions, movements, and the way the background changes along with her emotions. Although the artwork was created digitally, I built it up carefully with dozens of layers to give it a solid, textured feel.
Starting from the fourth edition, I even added a short four-panel comic to celebrate the book’s success.
