This book was drawn with ballpoint pen lines and digitally colored.
I wanted to create a new style of character, so I designed heads that are long and peanut-shaped. I composed the scenes freely and exaggeratedly, without restraint.
I loved every scene and truly enjoyed the process — though there were about two illustrations that didn’t turn out the way I imagined, which was painful.
The payment was absurdly low compared to the amount of work, so I decided this would be my last project as an illustrator. But — whether by luck or irony — I was selected as a winner illustrator of the 2021 Bologna Children’s Book Fair and thanks to that, I’m still working as an artist today.
